Sheffield Wednesday will hope that with the right additions this summer they can get back competing at the top of the Championship after a season to forget last time out.

Whilst injuries didn't help, the Owls were way off the promotion pace in the campaign just finished and ended up in the bottom half.

However, in the final few months they began to show really positive signs with Jos Luhukay getting his message across and several senior players returning to the fold.

Yet, there's no doubt new faces are needed to freshen up the Owls squad and add that little bit of quality that could make all the difference.

Here we look at three deals we think could be concluded by the end of the month...

The Portuguese defender established himself as an important member of the team by the end of the season and impressed enough to get a permanent deal.

But, Wednesday are yet to agree a fee with Vitória de Setúbal and Leeds have reportedly shown an interest which could make things complicated.

However, Wednesday should still be favourites to secure the defender.

Even though they have a new manager and owner, Sunderland are still going to have to sell players this summer and Honeyman could be one they lose.

The midfielder has great energy, is decent on the ball and would be a smart signing for the Owls as they look for more quality in the middle of the park.

Like many Championship clubs, Wednesday need a proven goal scorer and Marriott is the most in-demand forward in the EFL after hitting 27 for Peterborough last season.

His future is sure to be resolved soon and Wednesday will need to convince the player they have the ambition to match his in order to see off the competition.
