Steve McClaren is at the start of an exciting project with QPR.

The 57-year-old was appointed as manager to replace Ian Holloway.

He has a number of exciting young players especially in forward positions, but the team is limited by financial constraints due to Financial Fair Play sanctions, so most of his time will spent developing the talented academy prospects rather than bringing in new personnel to bolster the team.

He does have some limited funds to bolster the team, though, so here are two players that could join this summer...

McGeouch is a free agent this summer after he opted to not extend his stay with Hibernian. His availability is attracting a lot of clubs, but QPR could entice him because Blackburn are the only other Championship club chasing after him.

QPR do have Luke Freeman in the attacking midfield role, but McGeouch could provide back-up for him as a rotation option. They can't afford to spend much, so being able to bring him in for free means he should be an enticing signing. He was comfortable playing in a midfield two last season, so McClaren could opt to play him in a deeper role especially if Massimo Luongo leaves.

Martin has plenty of experience working under McClaren due to playing for the Rams during his two managerial spells with Derby. He was the focal point of the Rams' 4-3-3 system which nearly got them promoted to the Premier League.

McClaren might opt to bring him in because he knows him well and he is unwanted by Derby. They already have Matt Smith, but Martin would provide another physical threat in a similar build which would add to their attacking options. His similarity to Smith means they wouldn't have to alter their approach, so they could be rotated seamlessly.
