Birmingham City will be hoping that a full season under Garry Monk will mean the club are nowhere near another relegation battle in 11 months' time.

Blues endured a very difficult campaign last time out, with former Leeds boss Monk brought in towards the end of the season to keep the side up.

And, he managed that, getting a lot more out of the group than previous manager Steve Cotterill managed.

However, it's still fair to say that the Blues squad is fairly limited and additions will be needed if they are to kick-on and aim for the top-half next season.

Monk will be aware of that and will have plenty of targets in mind. Here we look at three deals we can see happening by the end of the month...

A deal for the left-back appears to be close and this would solve a major problem position for Monk.

Jonathan Grounds is the only senior left-back at the club but suffered with injury last season so Pedersen is a smart signing.

At £2.2m he is costing a decent sum by Blues' standards and will be expected to hit the ground running.

Whilst the latest reports in the Birmingham Mail denied Blues were after Johnson, it wouldn't surprise us to see him at St. Andrew's.

He provides natural width, pace and is a real direct threat, that will add something to Monk's attack. He is clearly a fan having signed the player at Middlesbrough and must be tempted to go back for him at a reduced fee.

The young Leicester forward is the latest player to be linked with Blues but it looks as if it could happen.

Capable of playing in different forward positions, Thomas would add pace, skill and good movement to the Blues side.
