Adam Forshaw has bullishly claimed that Leeds United ‘deserve’ promotion to the Premier League this season.
Leeds currently sit top of the Championship table, with nine games of the season remaining; when they are played is anyone’s guess, however, due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
It’s the second successive season Leeds had found themselves in this kind of position, with Marcelo Bielsa’s falling short in the top-two race before crashing out of the play-offs in dramatic fashion last year.
They’ve dusted themselves down well, however, and this year Leeds are arguably in a stronger position in the promotion race.
In the mind of Forshaw, Leeds deserve to be promoted to the Premier League, citing their style of play and that the wider club are working on returning to the top-flight then staying there.
Speaking on Colin Murray’s 52 podcast, the currently injured 28-year-old said: “I think that on the balance of play this year, we deserve it.
“We play really good stuff. Leeds deserve to be in the Premier League next season.
“As a club, we are preparing as well as we can to get there and stay there.”
In the remaining nine games of the season, Leeds face Fulham, who currently sit third, as well as Derby County.
Of course, it was the Rams who ended Leeds’ promotion hopes last season in the play-offs.

The Verdict
This is a pretty bold claim from Forshaw, as last season things changed quickly and Leeds were left with egg on their face.
However, they’re a lot better equipped for this season, in a much weaker division in the eyes of many.
Leeds fans will hope Forshaw’s teammates can get the job done.
