Sitting four points outside of the play-off positions, Luton Town will be striving to cause somewhat of an upset by securing a top-six spot when May comes around.

The Hatters will be hoping that they can put the disappointment of being swept aside by Birmingham to one side and continue their excellent start to 2022.

Given the quality of competition currently competing for a play-off spot, the next few weeks will come as a massive test for Nathan Jones' side.

In what is their third season back in the second-tier, Luton have made excellent progress over the last decade, converting themselves from a fifth-tier side to Championship play-off contenders.

Issuing his verdict on Luton's chances of making the top six, FLW's Luton Town fan pundit Dylan Bhundia said: "I think in terms of the play-offs, it's going to be a real challenge.

"There's obviously a lot of teams in and around those play-off positions that are challenging with massive budgets, with really high-quality players.

"So, I wouldn't consider us favourites, I'd say we're more outsiders but we definitely can do it and the kind of form we've shown in recent weeks barring the 3-0 loss to Birmingham has shown that we can compete with those teams.

"So we are not favourites but we can definitely achieve that (securing a play-off spot)."

The verdict

Luton have enjoyed an excellent rise from the depths of non-league football to establishing themselves in a division as competitive as the Championship.

Of course, the Hatters possess one of the smallest budgets in the division, however, that is something that they look to use to their advantage.

Adding really quality, tenacity and athleticism in the summer, Jones' side have the right to be ambitious and it is likely that they maintain this play-off push in what remains of this season.

Saturday's clash against West Brom will be massive for the Hatters, not only because the Baggies are now direct competition, but it will also be a big test of their character after last weekend's disappointment.
