‘We could honestly catch Wolves’ – Derby fans optimistic after yet another win

Derby County made it six wins in eight unbeaten games after a resounding 3-0 success at Birmingham City yesterday.

The Rams rode their luck at times, with Jonathan Grounds hitting the post twice, including early on with the score at 0-0, but overall they were good value for the three points.

With Cardiff winning earlier in the day, Gary Rowett’s men are still only two points ahead of third place but they cut Wolves’ lead to ten points after they drew at Barnsley.

Goals from Johnny Russell, Matej Vydra and Andi Weimann sealed the win and made it ten Championship away league games without a loss. Victory will have been sweeter for Rowett who was returning to the club that inexplicably sacked him last season.

As for Derby, they continue to combine resilience and a determined attitude with quality moments going forward and fans are unsurprisingly delighted with how the team are playing.
