Football League World's Leeds United fan pundit Charlie Wells has expressed his relief after Victor Orta delivered an update on the futures of Kavin Phillips and Kemar Roofe.

Reported by Leeds Live, the club's director of football told a press event in Australia that he is confident both players will sign new deals at Elland Road and put an end to the transfer speculation surrounding both of them.

"I’m glad Victor Orta has came out and insisted Phillips and Roofe will be signing new deals," the regular punter told Football League World.

"I think this means that the club are aware of the players' demands and are happy paying them.

"I think there will be just a few formalities to sort-out before both players sign new deals."

Midfielder Phillips has been the subject of a lot of speculation this summer, with Aston Villa, Wolves and Tottenham all reportedly interested in bringing him in after an impressive campaign last season, according to the Mirror.

Roofe is in a similar position and with just a season left on his current deal Rangers have apparently been trying to tempt him north of the border this summer.

And, despite finishing as the club's top scorer last season, Wells believes that the striker is somebody they would be able to replace this summer.

"I do believe we could afford to lose Roofe," he said.

"If, and it’s a big if, Leeds replaced him using 100% of the fee received for him.

"As for Phillips, he’s irreplaceable. Not just as a player but he’s a Leeds academy product and has Leeds in him."

It has been a difficult summer on the whole for the Whites with the impressive signings Jack Harrison and Helder Costa being marred by the sales of Jack Clarke and Pontus Jansson.

And the constant speculation surrounding two of the club's most important players has not been helping fan morale at all.

But, ultimately, Wells expects both Roofe and Phillips to be lining up at Elland Road throughout the coming campaign.

"In my opinion, Kalvin Phillips and Kemar Roofe will be Leeds players come the 4th of August and both will play massive parts this season," he said.

"They both probably realise that last season was their best in both of their careers to date and will only get better being the main players at Leeds and having another season under Marcelo Bielsa."
