Everyone connected with Nottingham Forest will be desperate for the end of the season after their dismal form continued in the week with a 1-0 defeat to Brentford.

Not only have Forest not won for six games but they haven't even scored a goal in that time. In fact, in their last 13 games, they have only scored in three fixtures, which highlights how poor the Reds are going forward.

Fortunately for Aitor Karanka, they probably already have enough points to survive, holding a nine-point lead over 22nd place with just five games to play.

Therefore, all eyes are already on the summer and it's pretty obvious where the Reds need strengthening.

Here we look at three players who could join when the window opens...

Whilst Forest look as though they've got the defensive structure sorted, they certainly need a natural left-back.

Ben Osborn has been filling in recently which also means he isn't an option in a more natural midfield role.

Karanka will want to raid his former club and the experienced Friend may be interested in joining up with his former manager and for a fresh challenge in the summer.

It's easy to blame the strikers for Forest's lack of goals, but they also clearly aren't getting enough quality service.

That would change if Forest bring in the Peterborough star who has been linked with a move to the City Ground in recent weeks.

Maddison has the dribbling ability and eye for a pass that Forest desperately need.

The most important signing for the Reds is a number nine.

Given that, they need to look for a proven Championship player, reducing the risk, so Wells is perfect.

He has done very well in this league with Huddersfield and will be available from Burnley as he has struggled for game time at Turf Moor.
