Mick McCarthy could be someone who is in contention to take the vacant Derby County manager's job.

The 59-year-old left the Ipswich job near the end of last season prior to his contract running out after a period in which his relationship with the fans had deteriorated significantly.

His style of play and the perceived lack of progress were the main issues because his style is results-based, so it provides little without that key element.
