The FA have reportedly announced to Premier League clubs that the 2019/20 campaign must be decided on "sporting merit" and reiterated that voiding the season is not an option, which has drawn an interesting reaction from many West Bromwich Albion fans.

It has been nearly two months since the EFL season was delayed and at this point, it remains unclear if, how, and when it will be concluded.

The Baggies looked one of the frontrunners to secure promotion to the Premier League before the season was halted and will likely have been waiting nervously to discover their fate.

A recent report from the Independent has claimed that the Premier League has told clubs that the 2019/20 campaign must be decided on "sporting merit" and has reiterated voiding the season is not an option.

It is understood that means the season will be concluded by completing all the games or by using a mathematical formula based upon previous results, such as a weighted points-per-game system.

The FA's announcement and end-of-season stance for the Premier League looks like a huge boost for West Brom's promotion hopes, as you'd imagine it will be the same for the Championship.

If that is the case, the Baggies look in a strong position to secure promotion – whether that is by completing the remaining games or not.
