Football League World's Swindon Town fan pundit Nathan Philpott has given his thoughts on the Robins' start to the season so far.

The County Ground-based club have so far picked up six wins, two draws and four defeats in a start to the season which for the most part has exceeded most fans' expectations, with Philpott summing up his club's start to the campaign by saying:

"The season so far has been promising. The improvement from both Phil Brown’s Swindon and Richie Wellens’ make-do squad is clear to see, and that can be proven by attendance figures home and away.

"We are playing with greater attacking intent, and with two goal-getters up front in Jerry Yates and Eoin Doyle, plus playmaker Lloyd Isgrove putting chances on a plate, there has been an indisputable improvement from last years attacking trio of Jermaine McGlashan, Marc Richards and Elijah Adebayo."

He was then asked if he thought the Robins were genuine promotion contenders, to which he replied:

"Not yet, no.

"I believe until the home form and injury list is rectified then we will still be playoff fodder at best.

"Undoubtedly we are better than what we were for the last few seasons, but we now need to not just win games against other promotion rivals (already losing to Bradford and Newport) but also start to make the County Ground a fortress."

We lastly asked Philpott to sum up how Richie Wellens has improved things at the club, with the Swindon fan going on to say:

"He has brought more passion and desire than Phil Brown’s journeyman side.

"Wellens needs to succeed in this role in order to make it as a manager, and that raw desire to impress everyone, including the supporters has been very clear to me."

If Swindon Town's start to the season is anything to go by, the County Ground faithful could definitely be in for a treat this season, as they look to make a return to League One football.
