A winding up petition in the high court against League Two side Bury has been adjourned until the 15th May, the club announced on Wednesday

The petition was served to the club at the start of April, with The Shakers said to owe HMRC £277,000, after they took over debt owed to the club's former head coach Chris Brass. Lawyers for the club are reportedly confident that the payment will be made within the five week adjournment given to the club.

A tweet posted on Bury's official Twitter account by club chairman Steve Dale claimed that "the club is safe and we got the result he was after in the High Court", adding that an official statement would be released later on Wednesday.

As well as the winding up petitions, there are also financial concerns for the club around the payment of wages, which the club's players and staff have yet to receive for the month of March.

Given the situation at club, many Bury fans appeared unconvinced by the claims that the club is safe due to the ongoing uncertainty around wages. Here are some of the best of the reactions to Dale's tweet.
