Sunderland were active on deadline day, signing left-back Laurens De Bock from Leeds, but letting two players leave the Stadium of Light.

One, youngster Jack Diamond, was expected to depart. He's an under 23 prospect who is in serious need of regular football. The other, Jack Baldwin, was more of a surprise.

Baldwin was captain of Peterborough in League One before his move to Sunderland and last season he played 41 matches in all competitions for the Black Cats, partnering Tom Flanagan at the back. Both players have been ousted this season as Jordan Willis partners Alim Ozturk, but Baldwin won't get a chance to fight for his place.

He's heading out on loan, joining League Two newcomers Salford City. It's a coup for Graham Alexander's side, Baldwin contributed plenty to Sunderland's play-off finish last season, as well as their EFL Trophy final appearance.

He'll now be hoping to push the Ammies up the table in the basement division, something that's not left these Black Cats fans overly impressed.
