Sunderland's away struggles continued today as they once again lost out.

Shrewsbury were the benefactors this time as they beat the Black Cats 1-0 to leave Phil Parkinson's men outside of the top six and some eight points off the automatic promotion places.

Sunderland and Parkinson were hoping to build on a good performance last time out which saw them run out 5-o winners against Tranmere Rovers.

However, they were nowhere near their best and struggled to get going as the Shrews put them to the sword with a 22nd minute winner.

The win put the home side just one point behind the Black Cats in the League One table and was another stark reminder to new manager Phil Parkinson that Sunderland won't be simply having things their own way between now and the end of the season.

The Sunderland fans were out in force on Twitter following the game too, with a whole host of them taking time out to take a swipe at the latest performance.

It doesn't make good reading if you are a Sunderland player that's for sure...
