Peterborough United Director of Football, Barry Fry, has revealed that if the Posh want to bring in any more players this summer, they will have to start parting company with players on the clubs transfer list, according to the Peterborough Telegraph.

Peterborough need to sell to buy

"We must be close to a transfer embargo" admitted Fry, in an interview with the Peterborough Telegraph. “It’s very tight between what we are able to spend on players’ wages and what we already have spent so it’s important that we can move some players out.

“We will certainly find it hard to sign any more new players until one or two have left the club, but unfortunately money is tight everywhere and there hasn't been a lot of movement.”

Some may find the lack of movement hard to believe when The Posh's transfer list is examined. Influential players such as Player of the Season, Bobby Olejnik, Nicky Ajose, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, and Kane Ferdinand are all on the list and have had very little interest.

The only transfer listed player to have attracted any interest is the club's former record signing, Tyrone Barnett. This is somewhat surprising given Barnett's low level of performance and unsuccessful loan spells. Barnett has been rumoured to be close to a move to Birmingham City.

The lack of outgoings is not a worry for Posh boss Darren Ferguson.

“I want the squad down to 20 players if possible, because that brings greater team unity and I want to develop another young squad." Explained the Scot.

A need to bring in new signings is also something that does not seem to be bothering Ferguson.

“I’m very pleased with the signings we have made and I’m also pleased that the players came back for pre-season training in great shape."

Last season, winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing returned from the summer break two stone over weight. But, chairman Darragh MacAnthony has outlined his delight with the wingers improvements this summer. Speaking on twitter, the Posh chairman said:

"Just seen some photos of @nmendezlaing in his undies from today's weigh in. Ripped top to bottom & some L1 defenses could be in trouble"
