‘We are becoming a joke of a club’ – Many Colchester United fans react as club make managerial decision

Colchester United have confirmed Hayden Mullins as their manager until the end of the season replacing Wayne Brown.

The U’s currently sit in a perilous position towards the bottom of League Two with just a four-point gap from Southend United who currently occupy the final relegation spot.

Colchester have gone seven games without a win and have only won once since they defeated Scunthorpe on the 8th of December 2020.

Wayne Brown took charge of the club on a temporary basis after manager Steve Ball left the club in February, since taking over Brown earned just six points from 9 games, something which has left Colchester in a fight for their League Two survival.

Former West Ham United midfielder Mullins has four years’ experience under his belt coaching the Watford U23’s. Following on from his role with the Watford youth side Mullins also had two stints in caretaker charge of the Watford first team.

Speaking via the club’s official website, chairman Robbie Cowling said: “With just eight games of the season remaining and Colchester United still embroiled in a battle to steer clear of the relegation zone, I have decided to make a very tough decision to change the first team Head Coach for the second time this season.
