Derby County manager Wayne Rooney has been speaking to the press on Monday morning as the Rams gear up to face four final big games in the Sky Bet Championship in the final weeks of the campaign.

It now looks like a straight fight between the Rams and Rotherham United as to who is going to join Sheffield Wednesday and Wycombe Wanderers in League One next season, with the Millers possessing two games in hand on the Rams.

It's going to go to the wire by the looks of things, then, and Wayne Rooney has issued a positive update on Martyn Waghorn with the striker back in contention after a hamstring problem:

The Verdict

Derby need all the help they can get in these final four games of the season and so they'll be fairly pleased that Waghorn is set to be available.

The Rams have four huge games left with their first coming against Preston North End tomorrow evening.

North End have far less at stake, of course, and so perhaps that will fall into the Rams' hands but, even so, there can be no expectancy of favours and Derby need to earn it.

Waghorn is available for this one, and we'll soon see to what extent he is involved.
