Derby County boss Wayne Rooney has revealed he is ‘really confident’ that a deal to buy the club will be finalised.
It’s no secret that the Rams are in talks to be bought by American businessman Chris Kirchner, who has been granted a period of exclusivity to finalise the agreement, although it’s yet to be signed off.
Issues with former owner Mel Morris, who still owns Pride Park, are yet to be sorted and it’s holding up the potential sale.
However, speaking to Rams TV, as quoted by Derbyshire Live, Rooney delivered a positive update as he desperately waits to start the rebuild following Derby’s relegation to League One.
“We are still waiting for things to be completed but we are really confident that will happen. When it does we will hopefully go out and keep working to how we’ve been working.
“We need to add to the squad and bring a lot of staff in as well. But we will do everything we can to get that right and try to move this club forward.”
Do you know the middle name of these 15 Rams stars?
This is good news because Derby fans know that Rooney has been in contact with key figures behind the scenes throughout this process.
But, he still has no influence on the deal and, like all supporters, he will be waiting until an official announcement as there has been plenty of optimism at different times over the months.
So, it’s a case of waiting and seeing what happens and hopefully some good news will come the way of the Rams fans in the coming days.
