Watford are expecting further interest in winger Ismaila Sarr ahead of the deadline for domestic transfers next Friday following previous offers from Manchester United and Liverpool, according to The Athletic

The deadline for international transfers passed last week but EFL clubs are able to do domestic deals until the 16th of October.

There are a few loose ends that still need to be wrapped up before that point and one of those is the future of Sarr.

According to The Athletic, both Man United and Liverpool made offers before the international deadline but Watford were demanding a deal worth £45 million across three years.

It is understood the Championship club wanted £20 million paid in the first year, £15 million paid in the second and £10 million paid in the third.

The report claims that the Hornets are bracing themselves for further interest before next week's domestic deadline but that they're hoping no offers are made that are worth considering.

Sarr joined the club last summer and impressed in his debut season in the Premier League – scoring five goals and six assists in 28 appearances.

The Verdict

This situation has seemed a win-win one for Watford for a little while now.

Holding onto Sarr would be a real positive as the 22-year-old is exactly the sort of player that could tear up the Championship and might be key in helping them get back to the top flight.

On the other hand, if an offer near their valuation comes in then the Hornets can cash in and still have a hugely impressive squad.

Fans will likely prefer the former, while the neutrals will also benefit should the Senegal international remain at Vicarage Road for the season ahead.
