Sky Bet Championship runners-up Watford are set to make a move for former defender Adrian Mariappa, according to the Mirror.
The defender, who is currently playing with Premier League side Crystal Palace has previously made 247 appearances for the Hornets, and they are now interested in bringing him back to the club as they prepare for life back in the top flight of English football.
Mariappa is one of two defensive targets that the second placed side have identified as suitable squad strengtheners, with Italian side Sassuolo’s wing back Sime Vrsaljko being the other of the pair.
The 28-year-old could be let go by the Premier League side who are just a small handful of games away from reportedly triggering another payment option in Mariappa’s contract.
If the move does come about, it would most likely facilitate the departure of Scotland international Ikechi Anya.
Watford fans, do you think bringing back Mariappa to the club would be a good move? Or do you think players from the past should stay in the past?
