Watford prospect Michael Folivi has now returned to Vicarage Road, with the Hornets cutting short the youngsters disappointing loan spell at League One side AFC Wimbledon.

Folivi had only played on 10 occasions for the Dons this term, registering just two assists in the process, with much of his spell being disrupted by his ongoing injury issues.

It now means that the 21-year-old returns to his parent club in the midst of the club's relegation battle, with it being unclear as to whether Nigel Pearson will make use of his services or not this term.

With competition for places being particularly high up front for the Hornets, another loan spell seems to be the most likely next step for Folivi once he has proven his fitness.

The Verdict

This seems like the most logical move possible for Foilivi's sake, with the youngster unlikely to displace either Marcus Forss or Joe Pigott from the Wimbledon starting eleven, he may well find his game time to be better served elsewhere if Watford decide to loan him out again.

The youngster will no doubt be gifted some game time for Watford's under 23 side whilst he looks to regain full fitness, as this will give him the best opportunity of proving that he deserves a chance this term.

Meanwhile, the Hornets will be looking to continue their recent revival under Pearson this weekend when they take on Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup at Vicarage Road.
