Watford have joined the race to secure a loan deal for in-demand Liverpool attacker Harvey Elliot amid interest from other clubs, according to the Sunday Mirror (06/06/2021, p68).
Elliot enjoyed an exceptional season out on loan with Blackburn where he managed to establish himself as one of the most creative players in the Championship. The attacker manager to fire in seven goals and also provide 11 assists in his 41 league appearances. That saw him register the third most amount of assists in the division behind only Emiliano Buendia and Michael Olise.
It has already been reported by Anfield Central that Blackburn have been in contact with Liverpool over the prospect of securing another potential loan deal for the 18-year-old this summer. While that same report also outlined that newly promoted Brentford are also interested in Elliot and that they have been in contact with Jurgen Klopp’s side as well.
21 things every Blackburn Rovers fan should know about their club, so can you score 100% on this?
According to the latest report from the Sunday Mirror (06/06/2021, p68), Watford have now entered the race to sign Elliot this summer with the newly-promoted side keen to bring in the 18-year-old on a temporary deal.
It has already been reported that Liverpool will be prioritising game time for Elliot but that they would also ideally like him to get a loan move to a Premier League club.
This could be a major blow to Blackburn’s hopes of landing a second loan agreement with Liverpool for Elliot this summer. Rovers are going to have to hope that Watford and Brentford are not able to persuade Klopp’s side enough that he would be a regular starter within their sides, as they both look to establish themselves in the top-flight following their promotions last term.
Elliot is clearly a player that would be already for the Premier League it seems, and having been involved in 18 goals last term in the Championship he would pretty much guarantee end product even in the top-flight you would feel. That means that Blackburn might have to brace themselves for frustration over their attempts to secure his signature again.
Blackburn though should not give up trying to persuade Liverpool to sanction another move for the attacker this summer. They will need to move fast now though with Watford now the latest other side to join the race for his signature. It is looking ever more challenging for Rovers to make this signing a reality.
