Watford boss Giuseppe Sannino tells the Watford website he is pleased with how his side beat Stevenage 1-0 in the Capital One Cup first round last night.

The Hornets beat the League Two side by only one goal, thanks to Lloyd Dyer netting his first Watford goal with a 52nd-minute strike.

Sannino is pleased that they defeated local side Stevenage who were competitive on the night.

"We are working hard in training on our formations so it was good for me to see other players, other ways for us to do the job," the Italian told the club's website.
The former Palermo boss made nine changes to the side that beat Bolton 3-0 on the opening day, switching to a 4-4-2 formation whilst handing debuts to Keith Andrews and Odion Ighalo, with the duo on a season long loan with the Golden Boys.
Sannino took the opportunity to rest his key players, with Troy Deeney, Gabriele Angella and Almen Abdi not being named in the squad, as they travel to Norfolk to face Championship newcomers Norwich City this weekend.
Watford were in control of the first half, but failed to make use of good chances, with Lloyd Dyer having the goal at his mercy early on, but failing to put the ball in the back of the net.
"The second half I was pleased with the players; we played a good game," the Head Coach said confidently, before going on to say, "But before half-time, after the first part which was good, we weren't as confident as we should of been."
Lloyd Dyer had the chance to wrap the game up and double his goal tally of the evening, along with Watford's scoreline, but his shot cannoned off the bar.

"Stevenage tested us, especially coming up to half-time. It was good to see us defend well, and in the second half, we took the chance well and maybe we could of scored more nearer the end."
Boro came ever so close to a goal, when a magnificent save from Watford's young shot-stopper Jonathon Bond denied Darius Charles from putting the game on level terms at The Lamex.
The Hertfordshire side will find out who they face tomorrow, as the second round draw will be made, and Sannino is delighted that Watford are in the hat for the next round.
"It's great we are still in the cup and have another game," the Italian stated, "We want to do well as it's good for the squad to have more time on the pitch.
