Watford and West Bromwich Albion are both interested in signing Hamza Choudhury on loan from Leicester City, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

It is understood that Leicester could potentially sanction a temporary departure for Choudhury this summer in order to provide him with the opportunity to play regular first-team football during the current campaign.

West Brom are still believed to be keen on a move after initially being linked with Choudhury earlier this year.

A report from the Express and Star in June revealed that Albion were working on a deal to bring the midfielder to The Hawthorns.

A product of Leicester's academy, Choudhury would have been hoping to establish himself a key player in recent seasons after making his senior debut for the club in 2017.

However, during the previous campaign, the midfielder's game-time in the Premier League was limited due to the presence of Wilfred Ndidi, Youri Tielemans, James Maddison and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Choudhury only featured on six occasions at this level.

West Brom and Watford will both be keen to engage in some transfer business before the window closes at the start of September as they aim to boost their chances of challenging for promotion.

The Baggies have signed three players whilst Watford have bolstered their squad by securing the services of four fresh faces.

The Verdict

If this latest report turns out to be true, it will be interesting to see who wins the race for Choudhury's signature.

In order to convince Leicester to sanction a move, West Brom and Watford will both need to offer some assurances regarding game-time for the 24-year-old.

Having played 13 games in the Championship during his career to date, it may not take Choudhury too long to make an impact at this level.

When you consider that Choudhury managed to average a respectable WhoScored match rating of 6.60 in the Premier League last season, there is no reason why he cannot potentially go on to thrive in the second-tier under the guidance of the right manager.
