Promoted Championship sides AFC Bournemouth and Watford have entered the race to sign England international right back Micah Richards, according to the Express.
The 26-year-old has spent the season on loan at Europa League semi-finalist’s Fiorentina, and his contract expires this summer – meaning he could potentially leave the Etihad Stadium on a free transfer.
The defender is the last English player left in a European competition, and he has impressed many during his time at the Serie A club.
Out of favour at City, it’s very likely his contract will expire and Tottenham, Sunderland, Newcastle, West Ham, Aston Villa and now promoted Watford and Bournemouth are waiting to snap him up.
The two sides will be hoping to add Premier League experience to their teams in this upcoming summer transfer window, with Bournemouth already being linked with Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew last week.
Eddie Howe’s AFC Bournemouth released left back Ian Harte yesterday among seven other players, subsequently losing a huge amount of experience.
The Cherries pipped Watford to the Championship title on the final day, after the Hornets only managed to get a draw with Sheffield Wednesday. AFC Bournemouth amassed 90 points, whilst Watford accumulated 89.
