The clash between Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday looks set to go ahead this afternoon, despite the threat of snow across the city of Leeds.

Bad weather played havoc to a number of Sky Bet Championship fixtures earlier this month, and there was a threat that more poor weather conditions could put Leeds’ clash with Sheffield Wednesday in doubt.

Leeds have this morning moved to quash that threat, sharing a video on their official Twitter account (@LUFC) of the Elland Road pitch looking in immaculate condition ahead of this afternoon’s Yorkshire derby.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side are looking for just their second victory of 2018 this afternoon when Wednesday visit, with Leeds looking to climb the table and finish the season on a positive note.

Whilst Leeds are seemingly drifting towards a mid-table finish under Heckingbottom, Sheffield Wednesday have a little bit more to play for, with the threat of relegation still looming at Hillsborough.

Ahead of this afternoon’s clash, Wednesday are eight points above the bottom three, which will be a cause for concern for Jos Luhukay, who will want points on the board as soon as possible to quash that threat.
