Sheffield United have today announced the arrival of Ricky Holmes, with Chris Wilder bolstering his squad with his fourth addition of the January transfer window to date.
Holmes has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal at Bramall Lane, ending an 18-month association with Charlton Athletic in Sky Bet League One.
Over the course of his time with Charlton, the 30-year-old has bagged 19 goals in League One, registering a further 12 assists in that time, proving to be one of the division’s most creative players.
Sheffield United’s official Twitter account (@SUFC_tweets), have moved to share a video of Holmes scoring a sensational goal for his former employers from a set-piece at Bramall Lane.

So far this season Holmes has continued his impressive goalscoring form, bagging six across the League One campaign, helping Charlton into serious promotion contention, with the Addicks currently sitting sixth in the table and looking to secure play-off football.
Holmes is leaving one club in sixth to join another in an identical position – albeit in the Championship.
The Blades moved into the top-six following the weekend’s round of fixtures, after Wilder’s side secured another valuable point thanks to a goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday in Friday’s Steel City derby.
Sheffield United’s supporters will be delighted to have Holmes at last, with the 30-year-old really impressive over the last 18 months for Charlton.
Holmes has been amongst the best creative midfielders in League One and his addition should add something different at Bramall Lane.
The Blades will hope for more of the same from the midfielder.
