New Leeds United manager Paul Heckingbottom has wasted no time getting stuck into his new role and took his first day of training at Thorp Arch today.

It has been a whirlwind 72 hours for the Yorkshire club. First, they endured the result that saw Thomas Christiansen pay with his job, losing 4-1 at home to a high-flying Cardiff City side.

Discipline was a huge problem in the closing weeks of Christiansen's reign and they picked up another red card - this time it was Gaetano Berardi who saw red - to pile the misery on during a day on which they were soundly beaten by a former manager in Neil Warnock.

Christiansen was sacked on Sunday but the club wasted no time in installing Heckingbottom as their top choice to replace him and he is already out there on the training pitch, setting the wheels in motion to try and reverse the club's fortunes.

The Verdict

Heckingbottom is a good coach, who improves players and I can't help but think that one of the reasons he has been brought in is because of his track record of promoting young players - which is an area Leeds have invested heavily in.

He will want to be out on the training pitch as often as possible to try and turn Leeds around.
