Derby Countyâs official Twitter account have shared footage of Darren Bent scoring a sensational training ground goal, as the striker steps up his return to first-team action for the Rams. Â
Gary Rowett has been without Bent so far this season, with the striker sidelined due to an unfortunate hamstring injury picked up over the course of pre-season whilst taking a penalty.
However, the experienced striker is edging closer to a first-team return, having returned to training during the international break. @dcfcofficial have now shared a training ground GIF of Bent striking a ball into the top corner, alongside the caption: âItâs like youâve never been away.â
Bent scored 13 goals across all competitions for the Rams last season, but has cut a frustrated figure so far this year, watching Rowettâs side make a promising start to the Sky Bet Championship season.
The Rams entered last weekâs international break in seventh, just a single point behind sixth placed, Aston Villa.
Rowettâs side will be looking to break back into the play-off zone this weekend, when they travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on Saturday evening.
The Verdict Â
Derbyâs update of Bent is extremely encouraging, and an indication that the 33-year-old is edging closer to a first-team return.
Rowettâs side have done well in Bentâs absence, but Derby will be looking forward to the strikerâs return, as he will add another dimension to a strong attacking outfit.
Derbyâs supporters will be hoping to see Bent in the form shown in the clubâs latest update when he returns.
