Derby County have confirmed that George Thorne has left the club to join Oxford on a permanent deal.

The 27-year-old spent the first half of the campaign with the League One side on loan but he was restricted to just three appearances after suffering a shoulder injury.

Despite that, Karl Robinson obviously saw enough to bring Thorne back, with the Rams announcing this afternoon that a deal has been finalised to end his time at Pride Park.

Thorne joined Derby in 2014 and whilst he impressed when he was out on the pitch, his time in the East Midlands has been seriously impacted by injury, with the ex-West Brom man making just 73 appearances over that five-and-a-half year period.

Therefore, the majority of fan had some sympathy for the player, even if they backed the club's decision, and recognised just how good he could have been had he stayed fit.
