Aston Villa look unlikely to sign attacking midfielder Nick Powell, as he is not keen on moving to the club at this moment.

Reports revealed that the talented 24-year-old was a target of Steve Bruce, as he looks to add to his squad ahead of the new season.

However, Alan Nixon, who broke the original story, has now said that Powell is not keen on the move, suggesting he will stay at Wigan this season.

The former Manchester United man is out of contract in 12 months, but with the Latics waiting for a takeover to be confirmed, he is prepared to bide his time.

This will be a blow for Bruce too, who has been looking to gain full control of transfers at Villa Park, with key figures turning to super-agent Jorge Mendes to bring players in.

It's fair to say Villa fans weren't too fussed about missing out on Powell.
