Nottingham Forest will take on fellow Championship side Cardiff City in the third round of the FA Cup.
The Reds have endured a tough start to the season, with Chris Hughton’s side currently just one place above the relegation zone having suffered three consecutive defeats.
Therefore, the two-time winners are unlikely to place much emphasis on the cup competition this season, as the focus is on the league.
They will take on the Bluebirds though, with the club confirming the news on social media this evening.

It will be a chance for the new boss to assess his squad, whilst new recruits may have come in by the time the fixture comes around on the weekend of January 9.
However, it’s fair to say another game against a side that Forest regularly come up against hasn’t exactly excited the Reds fan base.
Here we look at some of the reaction to the draw from Twitter…

I’m sure it won’t be long before we’re ‘concentrating on the league’

Just give them the bye. Don't bother with the game, it's a waste of everyone's time when we already know the result
