Life after Nigel Adkins begins in earnest this weekend for Charlton Athletic as they face Sunderland in Sky Bet League One with Johnnie Jackson and Jason Euell in caretaker charge.

The death knell rang for Adkins earlier on this week as Accrington Stanley saw off the Addicks 3-2 at The Valley, with the Charlton boss dismissed on Thursday morning.

The Reds, then, now need to look at ways they can build some form and momentum with them in a precarious spot in the table, and Jackson and Euell have the unenviable task of starting that mission against a high-flying Sunderland side.

Their team selection will be fascinating, too, and it's a bit of a lottery working out exactly what they might want to do in terms of the side they pick, but we've had a stab at it anyway:

It's a big test against a good Sunderland side so the Addicks may look to bring in some extra experience like Jason Pearce and Conor Washington to try and help them along.

Harry Arter could well have recovered in time from his minor injury to return to midfield, too, and we could see George Dobson getting more of a chance to establish himself as he faces his former side.

Certainly, there are several different ways Charlton could line up and there are a lot of players who are good enough to be involved - there's by no means a poor squad in SE7 this year.

It's all about Jackson and Euell finding what works quickly and then keeping with it, then, and they'll be eager to see some proper fighting spirit from the Addicks this weekend.
