Bradford City are in dire need of a positive result. They currently sit rock bottom of League One on just ten points from 17 games and are seven points from safety.

Hopkin has seen his side lose their last six matches in the league, scoring just four goals in that time and conceding 16.

Today the club took a step to rectify that when they announced that assistant coach Greg Abbott had left the club by mutual consent:

Abbott was initially appointed as the club's head of recruitment back in 2016 but took over as caretaker manager earlier in the year and towards the end of last season.

When Hopkin was hired Abbott was revealed as the club's new assistant coach but became the latest member of staff to leave the club this season.

The 54-year-old also made over 300 appearances for the club during his playing career and the reaction to his departure was a mixed one.

Some were sad, some felt it was necessary, whilst other felt that it is those higher up in the club's hierarchy who need to leave.
