Dean Smith will have enjoyed his first Second City derby as Aston Villa manager with his side posting a 4-2 win on their first match following the international break.

In a match that proved a cracker for the neutral with both sides not shy in coming forward, it was a moment of magic from an unlikely source that stole the show, with Villa full-back Alan Hutton's penetrating run, carving open Birmingham and resulting in a goal on 76 mins.

But was Hutton's goal, one of the best Second City goals we've ever seen?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

Well, what a goal that was - and from Alan Hutton too!

It is certainly up there from an individual standpoint and the fact it was the goal to seal the points will mean it will stay in the annals of history at Villa Park for years and years to come.

Some have compared it to Diego Maradona’s infamous strike against England in the 1986 World Cup.

Gary Hutchinson

Was it even that good?

Honestly, the defenders sat back from him as if they were scared.

He’s been allowed to run through without a challenge to evade.

I’ve seen it done before, defenders intending to pass but the sea parts and through they go.

George Harbey

Not only was it one of the best, but it was also one of the most unexpected goals.

With no disrespect, no one would have expected Hutton to go on a marauding run from his own half, take on four Birmingham players, and calmly slot it into the bottom corner.

What an afternoon for him.
