Many Coventry supporters have been reacting to the confirmed departure of defender Sam McCallum, who has joined Premier League Norwich City in a deal which will see him spend the rest of the season on loan with the Sky Blues.

McCallum has been an impressive performer for Mark Robins’ side throughout the season so far, having established himself ahead of Brandon Mason in the left-wing back role, with his energy and pace to get forwards in support of attacks a key weapon for the Sky Blues.

The 19-year-old’s form has unsurprisingly seen him attract the attentions of clubs in a higher division, and Norwich have won the race to secure his long-term future, and although Robins will be disappointed to see one of his most promising young players leave the club, he will be pleased to see him stay on loan for the rest of the campaign.

That will allow the defender to continue his development under Robins, and he could still prove to be an influential figure in the club managing to successfully mount a promotion challenge during the rest of the season.

The funds might have arrived to late to help Robins bring in some reinforcements before the end of the window, but they could be used to help improve the squad in the summer, and the Sky Blues have a player in Mason who is capable of replacing him.
