Football League World’s Cardiff City fan pundit Rhys Davies has issued his verdict on the impact of the injury to striker Isaac Vassell.

According to BBC Sport, the 26-year-old is set to miss six to eight weeks due to a thigh injury.

Vassell joined the Bluebirds from Birmingham City on transfer deadline day and has scored once in three appearances for the Championship side.

Cardiff have lacked a prolific goalscorer during the 2019/20 campaign, with no player scoring more than two Championship goals.

In spite of that, Davies suggested that he is not too worried about the latest injury blow.

He said: “To be honest, I don’t think that the injury of Vassell will hurt the bluebirds that much.

“The former Birmingham man is renowned for picking up injuries, so this should come at no surprise, and with only one goal to his name for the bluebirds this season, it’s not as if the goals are going to dry up for Cardiff.

“Warnock will be disappointed with his absence, however, as he does offer pace and power off the substitutes bench.”

Davies broke down the forward options available to Warnock in Vassell’s absence.

He said: “Robert Glatzel has been Warnock’s preferred choice this season and with him bagging his first goal for the club against Derby, the Bluebirds faithful will be hoping he can really kick on.

“Callum Patterson is coming back into first-team action and the versatile Scotsman can also play striker, so if Glatzel picks up an injury Warnock does have a backup.”

“Of course every manager wants as many options as he can, but with Glatzel injury-free and Patterson as a second option, Cardiff aren’t going to panic over the absence of another striker, particularly one that doesn’t have a great goal to game ratio at this level.”

Cardiff are currently 12th in the Championship and face a visit from 9th-place QPR on Wednesday evening.
