Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock spoke to the press today ahead of their game against Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow night, and gave an injury update on both Sol Bamba and Joe Ralls.

Cardiff host Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow night as the Championship resumes after the October international break.

It’s a clash between two teams in the top half of the table, with Cardiff losing just once in their last eight outings - a 4-2 loss at West Brom in their last match.

Sheffield Wednesday travel to South Wales as the 6th best away side in the Championship, with nine points picked up from six games on the road this season.

Neil Warnock was quoted by Wales Online, talking Sheffield Wednesday and the prospective return of club captain Sol Bamba who's been sidelined since March, saying:

"He’s telling me he’s ready,” said Warnock. “We thought he was ready a couple of weeks ago but we understood the medical department.

“They originally said it would be the first week of November, behind closed doors. He’s such an important injury, at his age it would be career-threatening if he had another injury.“

Joe Ralls is another absentee for Cardiff, having missed the last two games against QPR and West Brom with a groin injury.

“Joe is training with us, unless he has a reaction" said Warnock today, "He has had two good days now, so he should come into contention. I’ve not heard anything untoward so no news is good news."

“He had a thigh, groin type of injury. Inside his leg. He played with it for a couple of games, but it just got too sore.”

The verdict

Bamba was a saviour at times for Cardiff last season, but he had to watch from the sidelines as his team were relegated from the Premier League - it's unlikely that he'll feature tomorrow night.

Ralls though may well feature against Wednesday, and the midfielder could play a key part having scored twice this season.

The visit of Garry Monk's Wednesday tomorrow will be a tough ask for Cardiff, who will be relying on their solid home form to see them through the fixture - Cardiff are 2nd in the home-form table in the Championship.
