Cardiff City will be looking to extend their unbeaten home record in the Championship when they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Welsh capital this evening.

Neil Warnock's side are currently sitting 11th in the table after their first 11 matches of the season, with all four of their victories having come at the Cardiff City Stadium this term.

The Bluebirds' last match at home encounter saw them secure an impressive 2-1 victory over QPR, but their most recent league match ended in a 4-2 defeat against Slaven Bilic's high-flying West Brom side.

This loss brought Cardiff's seven-game unbeaten run to an end, but Warnock will be hoping his side can kick-start another strong run of form with a result over Garry Monk's side this evening.

Here is the likely line-up Warnock will field against the Owls...

Alex Smithies has established himself between the sticks since Neil Etheridge's injury on the opening day of the season, and the former QPR man should retain his place in the side following the international break.

Etheridge was in action for the Philippines during the international break, so it is unlikely he will be thrust straight back into the Swansea side having only just returned to Cardiff.

Cardiff's defence should have a familiar look with Joe Bennett and Lee Peltier resuming normal service in their full-back roles either side of Aden Flint and Sean Morrison who have formed a solid defensive partnership this term, particularly on home soil.

There could well be a change in Warnock's side's midfield following the West Brom defeat with Joe Ralls returning to full fitness after missing Cardiff's last two matches. This should see the 26-year-old reclaim his slot in the midfield three alongside consistent duo Marlon Pack and Leandro Bacuna.

Cardiff are then likely to start with Gavin Whyte and Junior Hoilett on the flanks, with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Josh Murphy struggling to assert themselves following their introductions against West Brom last time out.

This leaves one slot in Cardiff's attack which could well be filled by Danny Ward, who has scored three goals in his last three appearances from the bench following his return from injury.

This would mark Ward's first start of the season with summer signing Robert Glatzel having led Cardiff's line until now, but his two goals in nine appearances may mean he loses his place to Ward for the Owls clash.

Warnock has conceded he is considering the possibility of starting Ward and Glatzel in a front two, but it remains likely that he will stick with just the one striker this evening. Based on recent form, this should be Ward.
