George Thomas will feature for QPR's under 23 side this week in a bid to increase his match fitness as he steps up his return from injury for the Hoops.

The summer signing has been hampered by fitness problems since arriving in W12 but has gradually been working his way back to full fitness.

Now, though, he needs to build match sharpness before Warburton opts to bring him into first-team proceedings, especially given the thick and fast nature of the fixtures in the coming weeks and months in the Championship.

And, to do that, Thomas is set to feature for the U23 side in the coming week, with Warburton speaking after the Hoops 1-1 draw with Watford on Saturday afternoon.

The Verdict

QPR will be eager to get Thomas back amongst it as soon as possible with the games coming every few days for the foreseeable future but, after a lengthy spell out, it would make sense not to rush him and get minutes in his legs for the u23 side first.

That is evidently the plan for Mark Warburton, then, and it'll be interesting to see how the summer signing responds physically to the runout he gets in the week in a bid to prove his sharpness.
