Bright Osayi-Samuel scored his first goal of the season in Queens Park Rangers’ 4-2 win against Blackburn Rovers at the weekend, and his manager Mark Warburton has spoke about the importance of his goal.

QPR rose to 9th with a first win in three against Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn on Saturday, as the teams settle down for a two-week break for international games.

After back-to-back defeats in the Championship, Mark Warburton was keen for his side to go into the break on the back of a win.

Rangers looked dominant in their home win against Blackburn on Saturday, with goals from Nahki Wells, Ebere Eze, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Jordan Hugill.

Osayi-Samuel’s goal restored QPR’s two-goal lead at 3-1, and his manager has spoken about the importance of that goal. Speaking to the club’s official website after the game, Warburton said:

“It’s important for a lot of people. For him, and the role it played in the nature of that game. It was a very important time to score.

“But really pleased for him. He’s working hard in training. He’s a quiet lad and he’s had a little injury which has frustrated him, but he’s come through and he’s working hard.”

The verdict

Osayi-Samuel is one of a few talented youngsters at QPR who are continuing to flourish under first-team action.

It’s his first goal of the season and it’ll be one that helps him get underway in the Championship this season, and give Warburton some food for thought ahead of their next game against Hull in two weeks time.
