Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Warburton has said his side ‘didn’t deserve to win’ last night, after drawing 2-2 with Reading in the Championship.

QPR took the lead twice last night, and were twice pegged back by Mark Bowen’s Reading.

Nahki Wells opened the scoring with a low finish on the half-hour mark, with George Puscas equalising minutes later.

QPR were back in-front through Jordan Hugill after half-time, but for Sam Baldock to make it 2-2 with fifteen remaining.

Speaking to the club’s official website after the game, Warburton said:

“We played the game in front of Reading and never really hurt them. I think we fell into their traps a little bit.

“We improved in the second half but never really imposed ourselves on the game, so I don’t think we deserved to lose but I don’t think we deserved to win either.

“It was probably a fair result.”

Next up for QPR is the visit of their West London rivals, Brentford on Monday night.

Warburton’s former suitors thumped Swansea City 3-0 last night to go mid-table, whilst a draw is enough to see QPR go fourth before tonight’s fixtures.

“Brentford are a good football teaming and they got a tremendous result tonight, 3-0 away at Swansea,” Warburton said.

“They’re a good side, I’m aware of that so we will have to take care of the football better than we did this evening.”

Having picked up a fifth yellow card of the season last night, Hugill will be suspended for the game against Brentford.

“Jordan’s yellow card at the end is disappointing because we all saw what happened and then he gets booked for some reason,” Warburton said.

“That’s football, we have a good squad and we’ll have to use it on Monday.”

The verdict

QPR were once again undone by their defensive frailties last night.

They showed just how dangerous their attack can be against Reading, Wells and Hugill linking for the second goal to show how effective they can be together.

Hugill's absence on Monday will be a big blow as they face an in-form Brentford side, and QPR will have to be better than they were last night to take anything from that game.
