Queens Park Rangers have sacked manager Steve McClaren after less than a year in the post, following a run of one win in 15 Championship games, leaving them in 17th place in the table, eight points above the relegation zone.

"Making a decision such as this is never easy, particularly when you are talking about someone as professional and dedicated as Steve," chief executive Lee Hoos said in a statement published on the club website.

McClaren's assistant John Eustace has been placed in interim charge while the west London club search for a new boss, but who should the club appoint to the Loftus Road hot-seat?

“There is no obvious choice, to be honest.

“I doubt any decision will be made now, instead, waiting for the season to end before a permanent replacement is announced.

“Someone like Mark Warburton would be a sensible choice.

“A calm, level-headed manager who would not be shy in bringing the youth through, something that stopped under McClaren.”

Louie Chandler

"Warburton for me.

"The guy has a lot of experience in the Championship and has shown he can operate with clubs in QPR's situation.

"He would also bring the fan-base together which is arguably most important right now."

Alfie Burns

“It’s a tough job at Loftus Road and QPR could well be regretting parting company with Ian Holloway now.

“Whether he’d go back or not is in serious doubt, but I’d look towards him again, however bizarre that’d be.

“It’s a big decision facing the R’s and someone like Holloway would steady the ship.”
