Walsall boss Matt Taylor hopes his team will be in scoring form as they travel to The Memorial Stadium tomorrow to take on Bristol Rovers.

Despite being on top in Tuesday night’s game against Bradford City, The Saddlers came away with nothing after conceding a penalty in the 88th minute.

However, the Walsall boss believes Tuesday night’s performance can give his side belief going into tomorrow’s game. He told the Express and Star: “I’d say, for me, there’s more than just a little confidence from that game.

”I was really pleased with the performance levels.

”I thought we were superior in every aspect, apart from putting the ball into the back of the net. That’s been an issue for us.

“We’ve most definitely got to replicate the level we showed, and the bravery we showed with the ball.

”The way we want to play the game, we want to pass and move the ball. We want players to be brave and take risks. The players did that.

”After doing that without getting the result we wanted, it’s imperative the players don’t lose belief and confidence. And they won’t.”

It won’t be an easy game with Rovers unbeaten in the league this month but Taylor is aware of the challenge that awaits his side. He said: “It’ll be a tough game. I know I always say that and sound like a broken record.

“But I’m sure if we build on the performance that we produced on Tuesday, and take those big moments, we’ve got a chance, of course.

“They [the fans] clapped us off on Tuesday, so we want to be clapped off again after picking up a result.”

The Verdict:

The Saddlers could do with a win as they are yet to pick up three points this month but as their boss knows, they will have to be prepared to put their chances away.

It will be a tough game and likely a very physical one too so Walsall must stand their ground and stay in the game.

After a strong performance on Tuesday, Taylor’s side will have confidence to produce more of the same but will be hoping to come away with something to show for it this time.
