Walsall manager Matt Taylor has assured supporters that Liam Kinsella will 'not be going anywhere'.

There had been rumours on social media that the midfielder, who is a firm fans' favourite, was linked with a move to Ipswich. Naturally, this caused panic amongst Saddlers fans as Ipswich sit 11th in League One whilst Walsall are currently 15th in League Two.

However, the Walsall boss has come out and put minds at rest as he told the Express and Star: "Liam Kinsella's not going anywhere. He's a huge part of what we're trying to do at the football club. It's as simple as that.

"As far as I'm concerned, if any players are going to leave that are under contract, another football club will have to make a bid and agree a deal with us.

"As far as I'm concerned, Liam's a big part of what we're doing.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed working with him on a daily basis. I applaud his attitude and application."

The panic of Walsall fans over these rumours were likely added to due to that fact that in Walsall's previous two games, Kinsella has not featured for his side but remained on the bench in both games.

However, speaking about the 25-year-old's place in the side, Taylor said: "Liam will get back in the team, don't worry about that.

"And when Liam does get back in the team, it's up to him to stay in the team.

"Hopefully now, that's put to bed."

The Verdict:

Walsall fans will be relieved to hear their manager speaking firmly on this situation. Kinsella joined Walsall's academy at the age of eight and has remained at the club working his way up ever since. For many fans, he will be an integral part of the club.

Not only that, but the midfielder is a reliable player and proven in the league. If he did depart, Walsall would have to be looking at replacements and it doesn't seem as though their manager has any intention of doing that at the moment.

Taylor's side take on Exeter City tomorrow and I'm sure fans will be hoping to see Kinsella feature in the team just for a little more peace of mind.
