There are worrying times afoot at the Liberty Stadium with news of potential redundancies at the Welsh Club.

The news came that all staff at the club aside from the playing staff and management could be made redundant in a cull to bring costs down at the Championship side.

That may not affect the playing staff per se, but it could force the Swansea to offload their prized assets in the summer.

One player who could leave once the season is out is striker Oliver McBurnie.

The 22-year-old is currently away with Scotland on international duty, but there have been reports of “big interest” in the 16-goal striker.

By far and away Swansea’s top-scorer this term, he has been their main outlet in front of goal.

But with interesting mounting and a potential scale back at the club, the Swans may have to sell in the summer.

With that said our team of FLW writers their thoughts on the predicament that could well face the Championship club this summer.

Jay Taylor

“The interest will spark a bidding war, that I am sure about.

“But I think the underlying issue of potential redundancies could be the force at play here.

“That mixed with the queue of clubs in for the striker, a sale could well be on the cards.

“And I would expect him to leave the Liberty in the summer.”

Gary Hutchinson

“Doesn’t surprise me at all.

“They’ve been a selling club of late, but clever investment could see them in the top six next season.

“Selling is a great way to raise capital and McBurnie is a top player.”

Jacob Potter

“I think we’re waiting for the inevitable.

“McBurnie has been a rare bright spark in a relatively disappointing season for the Swans and would be fully deserving of a move in the summer.

“I’d be cashing in on him for a hefty fee if I was Swansea.”
