It was a close shave for Leeds United against Bolton Wanderers on the opening weekend of the season, as they edged out a thrilling 3-2 encounter at the Macron Stadium.

Leeds's new manager Thomas Christiansen made his debut in Championship management, and got off to a fast start against recently promoted Bolton, with Kalvin Phillips netting an excellent goal within the first seven minutes.

Chris Wood's emphatic header then doubled the lead for the Leeds side, before Bolton's Gary Madine buried a goal to bull on back just six minutes before half time.

But just three minutes later Phillips restored their two goal advantage, tapping home to make it 3-1. ]

A second half Adam Le Fondre penalty made things excellently poised at 3-2, but Bolton failed to equalise, giving Leeds all three points.

The defensive vulnerability that Leeds showed during these 90 minutes against a side who will undoubtedly be towards the bottom of the table this season is worrying, and they could use another centre half to sure up their back line.

Marc Wilson could be that man after struggling to continue as a first team Premier League player during his spells at West Brom and Bournemouth.

Wilson fell out of favour at Stoke before a move to Bournemouth last summer, where he failed to make a single league appearance.

He moved to West Brom on loan in January, but again only made four appearances.

He would be a massive boost to Leeds's back line, which dealt with two injuries against Bolton with Gaetano Berardi and Matthew Pennington both forced off with injuries.

Wilson would not cost an awful lot and would be a fine addition to their back line, and would given him the opportunity to kick his career back into motion.
