The Athletic has reported today that FIFA is set to allow the current football season to be extended indefinitely, to allow national bodies to decide how to end their respective leagues.
Nearly all of Europe’s top-level leagues have been placed on hold with the current pandemic continuing and that has left some concerns growing over the campaign getting declared null and void in this country.
The likes of Leeds, West Brom and Coventry fans will have all been concerned that such a move would leave the last few months to count for nothing, but this move from FIFA means there’s a clear chance for the campaign to be played out when it is safe to do so.

Naturally, there has been plenty of reaction to this news so let’s take a look at some of what has been said – with Leeds fans amongst those to be taking it in this Monday lunchtime:

It's good news… probably. The only doubt is that putting more influence over the completion of the current season into the hands of the UK authorities might just hand the decision to the loudest and most powerful clubs and can they be trusted to make objective sensible choices?
