According to Football Insider, Aston Villa are weighing up a potential move for Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe.

The forward was a key part of Leeds' play-off reaching challenge last season but could he now be set for a Premier League berth next year?

Some of our writers discuss whether or not they can see it happening...

Louie Chandler

"It certainly is not impossible.

"Leeds seem to have reached a real blockage in their bid to agree a new deal with Roofe, so the striker leaving is certainly not out of the question and a move closer to home could appeal to him.

"I imagine Villa would only splash out on him if they were unable to land Tammy Abraham again, however."

Toby Wilding

"This could happen.

"It seems as though Tammy Abraham will be staying at Chelsea, so Villa will need to find another attacker in the summer if they are to compete in the Premier League next season.

"Their promotion means they should have the funds available for that deal, and Leeds may be tempted to cash in while they can with the striker entering the final year of his contract, and no signs of a new deal as yet."

George Dagless

"Villa would surprise here.

"I like Roofe and would be intrigued to see him in the Premier League but I just cannot see him heading to Aston Villa this summer.

"The Villans, ideally, need to get in a proven Premier League striker before anything else this window."
