Aston Villa team-mates Scott Hogan and Ahmed Elmohamady have paid tribute to loanee Robert Snodgrass, who may be recalled by parent club West Ham.

Snodgrass sits third on the Villa scoring charts and has been instrumental in their recent good form and his team-mates have recognised his importance to and popularity within the side who now sit fourth in the Championship.

Elmohamady also played alongside the Scottish winger during their time together at Hull City and hailed his quality and influence within the dressing room.

He told the Birmingham Mail: "He’s the craziest, funniest man you will ever know. All of the lads love him for him the way he is the dressing room."

Hogan has staked his claim to be Villa's main striker in the midst of an injury crisis in recent weeks and also added his thoughts on Snodgrass.

He said: "He’s 100mph all the time. He’s always bouncing around the place and you need characters like that."

The Verdict

Losing Snodgrass would be the worst blow Villa could suffer in this transfer window. Even not bringing anybody in but keeping Snodgrass would be better than signing a frontman but losing the former Leeds man.

The comments from his team-mates show that he is not just influential on the pitch but off it as well and gives an insight into why he is having the impact he is having.
